New user, first new site wont run at all

I used the “bridgetown new bridgetown_tailwind” and it generated a site fine.

I change directory into the bridgetown_tailwind folder and run “yarn start” and this is where it fails.

The following is in the terminal:

D:\dev\2020\bridgetown\bridgetown_tailwind>yarn start
yarn run v1.15.2
$ node start.js

Hey @travislaborde — so I’m guessing you’re running Bridgetown directly in a Windows command line environment? If so, we don’t actually support that, it’s instead recommended that you use the WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). Here’s some more information on how to set that up:

I unfortunately don’t have access to a Windows machine, but my understanding is once Ubuntu is installed, the setup instructions are the same as any Ubuntu Linux server/dev machine.

ahh, I didn’t notice that this wasn’t going to work in Windows. I do Ruby/Sinatra work on Windows just fine and assumed this would work as well. thanks!

Yeah sorry about that. If it’s a deal-breaker I understand.

I imagine using Git-Bash as a terminal may work as well. It’s a little less heavy handed than WSL.
